Character Information
Name: Dr. Jean Grey
Codename: Marvel Girl
Age: 34/May 24th
Affiliation: X-Men
Class: N/A
Position: Teacher
Resident?: Yes.
Occupation: Medical Doctor for Xavier's Academy, along with teaching classes there. She generally teaches the Health/Medical classes, along with some of the Social Sciences.

Powers: Jean Grey is an Omega-level mutant, which essentially means that she has the potential to possess limitless psionic powers of telepathy, telekinesis, pyrokinesis and energy manipulation. However, as a young girl, Charles Xavier noticed this potential within her and decided that it was in her best interest to limit these powers and suppress them until she could get a satisfactory reign on them. Because of this suppression, Jean Grey was actually further behind on her progress as a mutant in exploring her abilities than some of the others. Her telekinesis and telepathy grew and evolved at a natural rate, overlooked and guided by her mentor, Xavier.

For now, she is a strong telekenetic, able to move hundreds of pounds with just her mind. Jean also is a skilled telepath, though no where near the level of Xavier.
Power Level: Omega

Personality: She has been the weakest one, the strongest one, the sanest one, the craziest one. She has been the nurturer and the dependent. They want all this from her and more.

Jean Grey has one fatal flaw. She loves far too much for her own good. She's dedicated to the cause of keeping the peace along with maintaining order and promoting understanding between humans and mutants. She tends to get very involved in her work when it comes to this, and can occasionally lose herself in her lab for hours when she's diligently working on something. She is a creature of passion, and she funnels that into everything that she does, and every person that she cares about. It shows quite often when she does her talks in front of the Senate, fighting for mutant rights and equality.

Jean is nothing if not passionate and heroic. She sets her sights high, and strives for it with all that she can. She lives by her own moral standards, which for the most part are what society deems to be good. She has a strong sense of right and wrong, and finds herself to be a natural leader. Her friendships run deep, and she will do whatever it takes to make sure they are taken care of. Once her loyalty is placed in a person, it takes near supernatural forces to tear that asunder. Not that she only cares for her friends. Jean has a respect for all life, and wants to see that thrive all over the planet. That was part of the reason that she became a doctor. She can't stand to see someone die, and does anything she can to make sure a person (any person) stays well.

Romantically, Jean is drawn to particular types of men. She likes men in charge, but can also find herself drawn to those that buck authority. She likes those that follow the laws and rules, but has an attraction to the ones that twist and break them as well. With no matter how forthcoming she is, Jean isn't the type to come out and tell a person that she feels deeply for them. She will just force herself to become closer and closer, developing strong friendships with them, and will hope that they figure out her feelings in time. Once she's in a relationship she expects that person to be loyal to her, no matter what the circumstances. Even if she feels strongly for someone else, she will remain as faithful as she can. She will give her significant other anything she can, knowing that if they need to be with someone else she would rather that than to give in to her own selfish desires.

Unfortunately for Jean, there is a part of her that wants desperately to be seen as more than she is. She gets sick of constantly being the weakest of the group, even if she is one of the more intelligent. She longs for the day when she will stop thinking of herself as a student, as much as she adores Xavier, she feels that she is constantly being watched over and judged. Additionally, Jean does love spontaneity. She's a creature of passion, and she wants to go with flow. The problem with this is that she's been dating Scott for so long that planning things out in advance seems almost second nature to her now. She welcomes a change, and those things or people that are new hold a special interest to her.

Of course, when Phoenix rears it's flaming head, anything else is possible. This brings about the darker side of Jean's personality, but thankfully it's nothing that the X-Men have had to deal with. Yet.

Appearance: In one word, Jean is breathtaking. A sight to behold, she has held on to her beauty even as she has gotten older. She stands at 5'8" and weighs in at about 120 (depending on the season). She has naturally deep red hair which she keeps down past her shoulder blades and eyes that nearly glow green when the light catches them. She spends quite some time in the Danger Room, keeping her body and mind ready for any sort of incident that the X-Men may need to go and face. Due to this training, her body is well-toned, even if she does have unnaturally thin wrists and ankles, which she claims to compensate for with an extremely buff mind.

History: Jean Grey was born and raised in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. She was the younger of two daughters born to Dr. John Grey and Elaine Grey, and had experienced a rather normal, placid upbringing. It was when Jean was around the age of ten when her parents began to notice changes in their daughter. Though, at first, the changes were subtle and they dismissed some of the odd goings-on as simple tricks of their failing vision and hearing.

This all changed when Jean and her best friend Annie were playing out in front yard of their house one day, and the ball they had been throwing around rolled out into the street. Jean had asked her friend to go fetch the ball, so they could continue playing their little game; but it was then when tragedy touched the young Jean Grey for the first time in her young life: Annie had been struck down by a vehicle that had been going many miles over the speed limit. Witnessing this horrific event caused a drastic change in Jean and was the ‘heightened emotional stress’ that sparked her mutant abilities to come to fruition. Annie died in her arms, and Jean felt every moment of it through her telepathic link with her friend.

When she was eleven years old, a psychiatrist recommended to Jean's parents that they take her to one of his colleagues for a consultation. Professor Charles Xavier was secretly a mutant with telepathic powers and he explained to Jean that she was a mutant too and that he could help her. Taking her under his wing, he looked after her for several years, during which time he erected psychic shields around Jean's mind so that she would not be able to tap into her telepathic abilities until she was at a point of maturity where she could handle it. He started to train her in the use of her telekenetic abilities, guiding her in how to lift and manipulate objects through psionic force.

Upon having an audience with Professor Xavier and his associate Erik Lehnsherr, Jean eventually decided to go to this special school and learn how to better control and understand her “mysterious” powers. Though, it took quite a while for the two men to convince the young girl into leaving the one and only home she had ever known and attend a school for others like her. Only she seriously doubted they were anything like her at all…

Time passed and under Charles Xavier's watchful eye, Jean flourished as a mutant with great potential. When she was old enough and of a proper maturity with her abilities, Xavier invited her to join him at the newly established School for Gifted Youngsters that he'd created for mutants like her where they would be safe to explore themselves and their powers. Of course, this school was also a cover for the "X-Men", a group of mutants that were being trained by Xavier to combat fellow mutants that wished to use their powers against humanity. Jean Grey was soon accepted into this group, agreeing to serve faithfully under Xavier's instruction.

During her time spent at the School, Jean met a fellow student named Scott Summers. For quite some time, the two harbored a mutual attraction for one another, though it took quite a time before they were willing to admit it. They became a couple and have dated off an on throughout her time amongst the X-Men. During this time, she also met the beautiful weather-controlling mutant "Storm", who has now become a best friend and confidant.

Years passed and Jean Grey grew to be a confident young woman, stepping up to become one of the top teachers in the School. She takes great delight in working with the incoming young students that she's able to mentor and help in the way that Xavier continues to mentor and help her. She's found a place of expertise as the School's resident doctor and takes pleasure in caring for the children and her fellow X-men alike.

She could hear the voices of the others as they ran this way and that through the school. She could hear their voices as they studied, as they played, as they slept. It was difficult to explain the kind of openness Jean felt in those moments, especially when Scott would look over at her in that way that had always made her melt since she was young. It was as if her mind was stretching out, reaching out to gently caress the minds that she had helped Charles mold just as he had done for her.

Of course, even she was still learning, and occasionally felt as though she didn't belong with the X-Men. Her powers were so much less than theirs, even if there was a small voice in the back of her mind that screamed out otherwise. She would try, sending her mind across the grounds, exercising her powers of telepathy, but then she would hit a wall inside of her mind, and she would be back to square one. It made her feel like a failure, but how could she tell anyone that? The warmth of the sunset outside resonated through the window as Jean laid her head against it, wondering ever so briefly if she would be Xavier's consummate student forever. Marvel Girl. Never Marvel Woman.

The sound of the door opening wasn't a surprise, since Jean could sense Scott approaching their room long before. The telepathic walls went back up inside of her mind and she concentrated on giving others the privacy that they deserved. She turned to look over her shoulder as she felt his familiar arms wrap around her waist. With a smile and the most contented of sighs, Jean's arms rested on top of Scott's and she turned back to look out the window. The metaphor wasn't lost on her. Outside was endless possibilities, where she could do anything she wanted, but she was held back only able to look at what she could become.

Her hands tightened on Scott's, and she rested her head against his when he dipped his head down to place a small kiss on her neck. Inside the window it was safe, it was warm, it was where she felt love. This was where she belonged, no matter how painful it was to think that she couldn't bring the same to the team as everyone else. Still, she was happy-

That thought was interrupted by Charles telepathically alerting her to an injury that had been sustained in the Danger Room. With a heavy sigh, Jean moved her boyfriend's hands from her waist and turned to give him the look that he knew far too well. "Downstairs," she said simply, "Bobby's been at it again." With that, the two hurried down to the medical lab side by side.

Oh...by the way! You got anything harder than chocolate milk?... It's a school!
